Here is one of my first pictures that I took with my new microscope. I got a microscope for my birthday and it has worked great. Here's a link to the microscope. This is an Omax brand microscope. It has a wide range of zooms. It goes from 40x- 2000x. I really like this microscope because it has a built in 1.3MP USB camera. It takes clear videos and pictures. It also comes with the software that lets you edit and view your picture. It also has a double layer mechanical stage that allows you to move it up or down and left or right without having to move the slide around. It is a compound microscope. I will be posting more videos and pictures that I have taken with this microscope later. | The pictures below are of a random leaf I took from the garden in the backyard. You can see the smaller veins branching off from the main stem. If you look even closer you can see some small cells. When I zoomed in even more I could even see the cytoplasmic streaming. This is basically the gooey stuff called cytoplasm inside the leaf moving nutrients into and out of the cells. Heres a Video of cytoplasmic streaming. I did not take this video. It is just a video I recommend because it shows the streaming very cleanly. |

WOW! Ben, this is great! I especially liked the video of the chloroplasts streaming! Cool leaf pictures. This summer I'm planning to create a mini unit on trees, their leaves, bark, etc. I'll check in occasionally to see what you are doing! Mrs. McClellan :)
